Iuly.B // Tzinah Podcast // Interview // December 2012 //

Iuly.B is a young DJ and producer from Iasi, Romania. Born in 1993, his love for electronic music showed up in 2007 when he discovered the minimal-techno sound. The passion started to grow and 2 years later he started to play at the local clubs and private parties then he produced his first beats which were released in late 2010. Now, his main genre comes from the house-techno sphere but he is often influenced by dark and misterious sounds who can please the crowd any time.

1.Tzinah Records: So how did all begin for you?
Iuly.B: Well, I loved listening to music since I was a kid and this made me start playing with sounds and when I’ve felt in love with the house and techno beats I was much more motivated to play and produce my own music.
2.Tzinah Records: Where did your name came from?
Iuly.B: That’s easy, Iuly comes from my name Iulian and B comes from my surname’s initial.
3.Tzinah Records: What brought you more close to the house music?
Iuly.B: Happiness and the feelings experienced at parties brought me closer to house music and the pleasure to hear sounds playing in my mind.
4.Tzinah Records: Did the djing or production came first for you? Tell us about your roots.
Iuly.B: DJing came first to me and I think this was very helpful because it gave me time to study any aspect of a track before starting producing one.
5.Tzinah Records: What was the first important event that you played at? How did it feel?
Iuly.B: The first important event was a private party at a local club, with me playing all night to a small crowd (20-30 people). It was an unforgivable night because I first felt the connection between the DJ and the crowd. It was wicked!
6.Tzinah Records: Who’s throwing the best parties in your opinion?
Iuly.B: For me, Germany is the heart of the parties and I can say London may take this place too but very good parties are also thrown by Timewarp, Love Family Park and other big names like these. Romania is on a good way but it’s not evolving too fast because of the mentality around :)
7.Tzinah Records: Which other contries have you played ?
Iuly.B: Just mine for the moment.
8.Tzinah Records: What do you think about the music scene in your contry? What is your opinion about european underground music scene , new tallents, old producers, what do you think about romanian artists?
Iuly.B: Comparing the romanian music scene with the european one, we still have a lot to learn. Romanian scene is evolving because of the new talents and the support of the foreign countries are offering to us. a:rpia:r was and it’s still a big impact on the european music scene but you never know when something big can come up :)!
9.Tzinah Records: If you could pick one place you would like to play where would it be and why?
Iuly.B: One place would be Fabric (London). I like that concept!
10.Tzinah Records: Do you see yourself being a dj all your life?
Iuly.B: Not 100% sure but I will never let house music go away from me.
11.Tzinah Records: Out of all tunes you have made , which one you think ‘never fails’?
Iuly.B: I think I haven’t done a strong one yet, need to work harder :)
12.Tzinah Records: Which artists inspires you the most ?
Iuly.B: My inspiration comes from many genres but the big artists and DJs for me are Mr. G and Rhadoo.
13.Tzinah Records: Are you focusing more on djing or on production right now?
Iuly.B: I’m focusing more on production right now because it’s a more efficient way to rise.
14.Tzinah Records: When you’re not working, when the party is over, how do you like to chill out?
Iuly.B: Right after the party, chill-out/ambiental music does the best and later, games and hang-outs with friends are very welcomed.
15.Tzinah Records: What projects are you working on at the moment?
Iuly.B: Mostly single tracks and few remixes for my friends and label mates.
16. Tzinah Records: Describe your relationship with our label from your point of view.
Iuly.B: I’d like to be in touch anytime with Tzinah. The promoting system is very good; this helped me a lot for the moment and the feedback is never missing. It’s a pleasure to be part of it!
