1922363_572064446223753_1448504085_nGik on his real name Marius Aurelian Curteanu, was born in the 1988 in Constanta, Romania. Living on the Black Sea coast, Gik was inspired by the sweet and chilled rhythms of house music played at the beach, were people were dancing, enjoying and loving house music.
As he grew up, the rhythms and vibes of house were still in his heart, waiting for something to happen, so he started to listen to more house music, feeding his mind and soul for what’s next to begin.
So he entered in the music scene two years ago and began producing house music, now being the one that gave rhythm and vibe to the Black Sea beach, trying to bring something new and inspiring, keeping people dancing and love the house music spirit.
His first EP, Breeze, was released by Beat Rude Records, then evertything started to go wild. Tzinah Records: To start with, please, recommend us something to listen to while we go through this interview. It can be anything.

Gik: At the moment I’m working on my tracks and some new tracks with my friend Nicvius which will be released on our label that we both own, CerSenin Records. My next party will be a showcase held by Tzinah itself on 21st March 2015.

Tzinah Records: Could you remember when and where have you felt it for the first time that you were to become a music artist?
Gik: I’ve started to have this feeling a few years ago, I can’t really tell exactly when. This feeling develepted in years.

Tzinah Records: Why did you choose to create and play this particular type of music? Are there any artists that touched you deeply while developing your own style?
Gik: I was attracted to the electronic side of music and listened most of the house music genres out there, but I felt something special for minimal house and it’s non-conformism. I consider that Ricardo Villalobos had and still has an impact on my music style.

Tzinah Records: Please, briefly, describe for us, the current state of the underground music scene in the place you come from. Is it any good?
Gik: Well, from my point of view the underground music scene in Romania it’s continuously evolving, going better and better.

Tzinah Records: Without giving out too much about your secret weapons, please tell us how does the magic work in your production routine. Software? Analog? What does your DJ set-up imply?
Gik: I only use software for now. I’m using Ableton for producing and CD players for my DJ sets.

Tzinah Records: What are the aspects of your daily life that are influencing the shape and sound of the music that you currently make?
Gik: To be honest I’m really busy working and I’m really excited to get home and start a track.

Tzinah Records: Which underground house DJ or producer would you love to take out for a summer picnic? With which artist (from any music genre) would you spend 24 hours stuck in an elevator?
Gik:.Ha ha, Ricardo Villalobos all the way.

Tzinah Records: Have you already played in your most-dreamed about venue? Which one is that?
Gik:I wish I could play in Club Midi (Cluj Napoca). That’s my dream.

Tzinah Records: What motivates you to be an active part of the underground movement?
Gik: I’m motivated by the energy of house music itself. For me it’s a true feeling producing and mixing music.

Tzinah Records: What’s your favorite type of breakfast?
Gik: Hard choice, but jam on toast it’s my favorite.

Tzinah Records: What do you do when the music is not playing?
Gik:I need to be relaxed when I’m out of the studio. So when the music is not playing, you can find me in front of the TV watching Discovery Channel or National Geographic.

Tzinah Records: What’s the story behind your Tzinah Family Podcast? How did you record it and are there released or unreleased tracks?
Gik:I’ve recorded the podcast on a Saturday afternoon at home using Traktor. I’ve used both released and unreleased tracks through the podcast.

Tzinah Records: Are there any of your plans/upcoming projects that you would like to share with us? Where can we see you play next?

Gik: Work hard and do your best !
