Dubsons (Vlad & Robert) represents one of the newest project on the underground scene. Despite their age,they started making an own sound with influences from dub,techno,house & detoit.Their first vynil release signed at BodyParts Records was out in october 2012.The prime time side contains two tracks signed by them and the other was signed by their russian friend Stab9.The record received big support from the crowd, reaching 3rd place on Juno Bestsellers.You can hear their innovative sound in mixes from dj’s like: Rhadoo,Raresh,Marco Carola,Richie Hawtin,Nima Gorji,John Digweed,Carl Cox,Cezar,Praslea,Gescu,Kozo,Chris Tietjen.On their last year they have the pleasure to play with Rhadoo,Raresh,Nima Gorji,Federico Molinari,and many others.Year 2013, bring for themsome freshvinyl releases and one of the newest colaborations on the romanian scene with their fellow NuZau.
Tzinah Records: To start with, please, recommend us something to listen to while we go through this interview. It can be anything.
Dubsons: ok, let s take a listen to “BB King – Live At Montreux 1993”
Tzinah Records: Why did you choose to create and play this particular type of music? Are there any artists that touched you deeply while developing your own style?
Dubsons: we had chosen to take this path in music, arround 2010 – 2011 when we became the residents of xs club from iasi, and since we had the opportunity to play before some of the iconic dj s in romania like Rhadoo and Raresh, of course we were touched in a lot of ways by their music and definitely those nights had a big influence on our sound.
Tzinah Records: Please, briefly, describe for us, the current state of the underground music scene in the place you come from. Is it any good?
Dubsons: Right now Romania is the “hotspot” of the world underground scene. you can hear that from a french man, an english or a german one, or even an american
Tzinah Records: Without giving out too much about your secret weapons, please tell us how does the magic work in your production routine. Software? Analog? What does your DJ set-up imply?
Dubsons: we choose to combine the power of the analog with the accesibility of digital to build our tracks. and for our dj set up, the usual one:mixer,players and pick ups
Tzinah Records: What are the aspects of your daily life that are influencing the shape and sound of the music that you currently make?
Dubsons: we think that every moment in our life can infulence us in all sorts of ways if we re paying enough attention to it.we try to take everything as it is in this very moment, and make out the best of it
Tzinah Records: Which underground house DJ or producer would you love to take out for a summer picnic? With which artist (from any music genre) would you spend 24 hours stuck in an elevator?
Dubsons: Hehehe, we don t think we have any preferences, we would love to take out for a summer picnic everybody out there. you can be a dj, a painter, a music lover, or anything; if you like our company, and we like yours , we don t see any reason not to take you out on a picnic.
Tzinah Records: Have you already played in your most-dreamed about venue? Which one is that?
Dubsons: here is the same, we don t have any “most dreamed about venues”,every venue has that “something special” .
Tzinah Records: What motivates you to be an active part of the underground movement?
Dubsons: the passion of course.
Tzinah Records: What’s your favorite type of breakfast?
Dubsons: it depends, somedays we like coffee and croissants, in somedays we like milk, honey and home made bread. we tend not to stick to any form of routine, because, it might kill the passion :))
Tzinah Records: What do you do when the music is not playing?
Dubsons: reading, watching movies/documentaries.
Tzinah Records: What’s the story behind your Tzinah Family Podcast? How did you record it and are there released or unreleased tracks?
Dubsons: the story is the podcast itself.
Tzinah Records: Are there any of your plans/upcoming projects that you would like to share with us? Where can we see you play next?
Dubsons: right know we are in proces of building up our first release from Algorhythmic, our own imprint, and beside that we re goin to release an EP on La Clap and a remix at French Kitchen.you cand see us next in Bacau, at Maraton event, on 25,26,27 july.
