Tzinah Records: To start with, please recommend us something to listen to while we go through this interview. It can be anything.
Csurt: Thievery Corporation – Un Simple Histoire, because it is a relaxing sound. When I want to engage in some activity, I always listen to it.
Tzinah Records: Could you remember when and where you felt for the first time that you were to become a music artist?
Csurt: Since I was little, I always liked music. My family is very artistic; I grew up watching and listening to them, and I always wanted to be an artist. So, I think from that moment, I decided to pursue music.
Tzinah Records: Why did you choose to create and play this particular type of music? Are there any artists that touched you deeply while developing your own style?
Csurt: Because it has unique sounds and rhythms that are not very common. Just by listening to this music, you immediately connect with it. Many artists have inspired me, and I feel represented by their productions. To mention a few: Cosmjn, Silat Beksi, Arapu, Barac, Traumer, Ricardo Villalobos, Boo Williams, among others.
Tzinah Records: Please, briefly describe for us the current state of the underground music scene in the place you come from. Is it any good?
Csurt: The underground scene in my area is developing. People are slowly connecting with it. I feel it’s good, and I hope that over the years, it will grow even more.
Tzinah Records: Without giving out too much about your secret weapons, please tell us how the magic works in your production routine. Software? Analog? What does your DJ set-up imply?
Csurt: I like to produce at night because I feel more focused then. I use Ableton as my production software. At the moment, I have the essentials in my studio: monitors and an Arturia Minilab MKII as a MIDI keyboard. I generally use plugins to create pads, sequences, and more.
Tzinah Records: What are the aspects of your daily life that are influencing the shape and sound of the music you currently make?
Csurt: I always try to make fresh sounds, inspired by my love for the sea and mountains. I think that’s my main connection, and it brings tropical vibes influenced by other Latin musical genres.
Tzinah Records: Which underground house DJ or producer would you love to take out for a summer picnic? With which artist (from any music genre) would you spend 24 hours stuck in an elevator?
Csurt: I’d take Silat Beksi for a summer picnic and spend 24 hours stuck in an elevator with Traumer. I think I’d ask him for some production tips, haha.
Tzinah Records: Have you already played in your most-dreamed-about venue? Which one is that?
Csurt: I still haven’t played in my dream venue. I hope to perform at a big festival one day.
Tzinah Records: What motivates you to be an active part of the underground movement?
Csurt: What motivates me is that each artist is constantly creating unique and interesting sounds. This makes it more attractive for listeners to connect with the artist’s music.
Tzinah Records: What’s your favorite type of breakfast?
Csurt: I love staying with my whole family, talking, laughing, and eating my mom’s food.
Tzinah Records: What do you do when the music is not playing?
Csurt: I enjoy surfing, going to the gym, hanging out with friends to play video games, and traveling with my girlfriend.
Tzinah Records: What’s the story behind your Tzinah Family Podcast? How did you record it, and are there released or unreleased tracks?
Csurt: I selected tracks that are attractive to listeners and can connect with the podcast. I included some tracks already released digitally and on vinyl, as well as some of my own.
Tzinah Records: Are there any of your plans or upcoming projects that you would like to share with us? Where can we see you play next?
Csurt: I’m currently in the process of improving my home studio and getting new equipment.
Tzinah Records: Supposing you come back to read this interview in 10 years from now, could you try saying something to your future self?
Csurt: I hope I have achieved some of my goals and evolved my music.
