Tzinah Records: Could you remember when and where have you felt it for the first time that you were to become a music artist?
Yahed: I was about 16 years, for the first time in my life i was going to a club, the deejay was playing ( back in the day it was Funky House Music ), he had all his record in bags behind him and i watched him spinning tunes all night! I went back there every weekend for a while, i was starting to be part of the family, i got close with the resident deejay from that club and start organizing private party with him , from then i was playing music in clubs and events in town all the time!

Tzinah Records: Why did you choose to create and play this particular type of music? Are there any artists that touched you deeply while developing your own style?
Yahed: Since i was a kid i listened to a lot of music and felt in love with Disco Funk and Soul, at the beginning funky house was the just fantastic for me, it was a mix between what i listen every day and House Music. Years goes by and music changes as well but often i find a lot of connection between funky house and the house/minimal i’m playing now and for exemple Dj Sneak or Bret Johnson was always in my collection from day one till now !

Tzinah Records: Please, briefly, describe for us, the current state of the underground music scene in the place you come from. Is it any good?
Yahed: Lille is a small town in the border of Belgium, 200km in the north of Paris and 1 hour on train from London! We are in the center of Capitals that are really influent in the underground electronic music in Europe. We have a lot of good Crew and Deejay here who grow with all those influences. At the moment we only have 3 underground Clubs in town but we have a big selection of private events! most of them are Techno style but we still got a few Crew like Silence or Coma du Nord, to only name a few, who are making events and bringing some underground house/minimal artist in the area.

Tzinah Records: Without giving out too much about your secret weapons, please tell us how does the magic work in your production routine. Software? Analog? What does your DJ set-up imply?
Yahed: I’m managing two of my closest friend who are influent in the house music and hiphop scene ( Tim Baresko & CYGN ) spending time with them help and influence me everyday. Ive also got a resident night in a club here called «Baron Club», that helps me to stay update with my collection and what people seeking.

Tzinah Records: Which underground house DJ or producer would you love to take out for a summer picnic? With which artist (from any music genre) would you spend 24 hours stuck in an elevator?
Yahed: Id love to go on a summer picnic with Nastia! Being stuck in an elevator for 24h would freak me out so id need someone like Minnie Riperton to sing me sweet songs and tell me stories !

Tzinah Records: Have you already played in your most-dreamed about venue? Which one is that?
Yahed: I’ve played in Tijuana ( Mexico ) on a roof top club last year and to be that far from home was pretty awesome but my dream at the moment would probably be Spring Edition of « Sunwaves Festival » when the sun is rising on the Beach OR « The Block » in Tel Aviv ( Israel )

Tzinah Records: What motivates you to be an active part of the underground movement?
Yahed: I’ve created Silence at the end of 2017 cause no one here wanted to have deejays i’d like so i had nowhere in the area to see them appart from Paris, Brussels, London… First artist i had was Cosmjn and since that I’ve made event every two month with artist like Primarie, Bryz, Sepp, Arapu, Nima Gorji…. Whats motivate me is the relation with the artist and the joy of spending time and getting to know them!

Tzinah Records: What’s your favourite type of breakfast?
Yahed: Egg Benedict on a muffin with a nice fresh juice !

Tzinah Records: What do you do when the music is not playing?
Yahed: I put it back on of course ! but otherwise i try to travel as mush as i can and my everyday work is in the advertising business. Appart from that the Music is always on ! working in the Baron Club or for the Silence event!

Tzinah Records: What’s the story behind your Tzinah Family Podcast? How did you record it and are there released or unreleased tracks?
Yahed: It all started because Primarie played twice here at Silence and a little bit after the second time he ask on Tzinah community group who wants to be the next Podcast so I’ve asked and here i am, really honoured and proud to be part of the podcast series! I’ve recorded the set at home while i was chilling with friends. The very last track of the podcast is a unreleased track of mine called « Yahed – Strudel Madness » i wanted to put it there cause i never had the opportunity to make it listen to anyone ! hope some of you will enjoy it! I wanted to also play the TZH091 from Petrutt remixed by Primarie cause this is a madness loved tune for me, and also an other big big track for me is the « Lixir – Cleptoman » on MiNimmal Movement. ( the vinyl never been out of my bag since Lixir offer it to me when he came play at Silence in 2017!)

Tzinah Records: Are there any of your plans/upcoming projects that you would like to share with us? Where can we see you play next?
Yahed: Next thing is On June 7th Silence invite « Vinyl Speed Adjust » and a crew from Brussels called « Full Scale » but to see further this year there will be Silence birthday, more events and probably a Silence label with some release before the end of 2019.

Tzinah Records: Supposing you come back reading this interview in 10 years from now; could you try saying something to your future-self?
Yahed: Id probably say « Hei man did we ever have a picnic with Nastia ? »
