Tzinah Records: Could you remember when and where have you felt it for the first time that you were to become a music artist?
Robert David: Aaaah, of course yeah, it was 1994 and I was visiting with my mum one of her very good friend. Her friends son had a cd player and a cd with prodigy. And 1st track I have listened was ‘’No Good’’ …the way that the combination of sounds made me feel was inexplicable… since then I have started to research electronic music and to develop knowledge…back then there was no internet…at least in Romania, so it was very hard to find good stuff. I remember there was his german tv station VIVA and that was pretty much the only station that was promoting electronic music…1st time I’ve seen Love Parade, Westbam, Members of Mayday , etc.

Tzinah Records: Why did you choose to create and play this particular type of music? Are there any artists that touched you deeply while developing your own style?
Robert David: I think the music chose me…when I started to play music I was into progressive then in time I have developed interest for deep-house and house and then I heard Villalobos… and then my true nature revealed itself to me and I absolutely fell in love with the minimal sound. I have started playing music and making music because I just wanted to transmit to people the love I feel for this music and the love that the music transmits to me. My motto is so simple yet so hard to achieve these days. Peace and Love.

Tzinah Records: Please, briefly, describe for us, the current state of the underground music scene in the place you come from. Is it any good?
Robert David: Well in Romania… where I come from, is as it has always been. Rock Solid. On the other hand in Ireland , where I live now, It’s a different kind of scene. People are more into the fast paced techno and industrial techno and tech-house… and promoters are not interested in coming up with something new when this works for them and it brings them money. From my point of view it’s really bad as the same 20 – 30 names come every year to play here. Of course there are some lads that are into minimal… I’ve done enough events in Dublin and I’m trying to still do them… but it’s hard to find a venue who accepts you and then somehow people never show up… guess they really just into the thing bcs it’s cool… but when they go out they prefer to go where the masses go…

Tzinah Records: Without giving out too much about your secret weapons, please tell us how does the magic work in your production routine. Software? Analog? What does your DJ set-up imply?
Robert David: I think it does not matter what synths or controllers or analog stuff you have as long as you make it form the bottom of your heart and with the only aim to spread the love and make others happy. I’m a regular dj nothing special, nothing flashy… just a very well curated selection of music, very well calculated times of delivery (meaning when to play certain tracks and how to mix them) and last but not least LOVE.

Tzinah Records: What are the aspects of your daily life that are influencing the shape and sound of the music that you currently make?
Robert David: I work pretty much in my daily life and I also try to be helpful and I volunteer to loads of stuff and try to improve myself as a human being. I guess when I make music I just escape the daily routine and let my mind wonder in space and time.

Tzinah Records: Which underground house DJ or producer would you love to take out for a summer picnic? With which artist (from any music genre) would you spend 24 hours stuck in an elevator?
Robert David: Villalobos is someone I would definitely spend my time with on a picnic. I just feel that we have the same weirdness (forgot to mention I’m a weirdo). Would probably spend 24 hour in an elevator with whichever is now the most influential artist in the world and try to open his mind about why he started making music and playing music and try to bring him back to the first love… this way maybe some things would slowly start to change into better regarding the state of ‘’commercial’’ music these days and what is ‘’served’’ to the masses.

Tzinah Records: Have you already played in your most-dreamed about venue? Which one is that?
Robert David: no I haven’t and probably never will. SW is my venue 😊

Tzinah Records: What motivates you to be an active part of the underground movement?
Robert David: Just the love for the music and the love for the simple thing in life… which matter the most and I think we should not lose those as human kind.

Tzinah Records: What’s your favourite type of breakfast?
Robert David: Wake’n’bake 😊)))))) haha seriously now. With good company it can be anything from an apple to full regular breakfast.

Tzinah Records: What do you do when the music is not playing?
Robert David: I paint, I write poetry, I sit and contemplate with the life I’m living , the world I live in and I never forget to LOVE.

Tzinah Records: What’s the story behind your Tzinah Family Podcast? How did you record it and are there released or unreleased tracks?
Robert David: There’s some unreleased stuff in there which will hopefully put a smile on ppl’s faces. I sat down and just picked the songs that vibed with my state of mind at that moment of time. My sets are never planned in the means of.. I’ll put this track cuz it’s a bomb or this is famous ant that…it’s just a selection of music that gives me the good feeling and hopefully it does it for you to.

Tzinah Records: Are there any of your plans/upcoming projects that you would like to share with us? Where can we see you play next?
Robert David: I am preparing a vinyl release with surprise remixes , also working on my first album and I’m working on a big audiovisual artistic project together with a friend which will be definitely something I haven’t done before and it will be something very very cool.

Tzinah Records: Supposing you come back reading this interview in 10 years from now; could you try saying something to your future-self?
Robert David: I’m glad you haven’t lost your Hope, Love and Passion old friend. 😊
