Origins Of Time // Interview // Tzinah Podcast // July 2022 //

Casablanca is the stronghold of Moroccan creativity, where different horizons and destinies intertwine. In the front of the scene, a duo of artists particularly distinguished is Origins Of Time. Fascinated by electronic music, and more specifically minimal music, the duo has a telepathic understanding of the supernatural, both behind turntables and in production, which has attracted the attention of renowned producers and labels. The numerous collaborations with Marcelo Cura – boss of CELO Recordings – or their productions on Inwave Imprint, Kindisch or Tzinah Records are only illustrations of a small part of their talent. The notion of time disappears when OOT is in charge.

Tzinah Records: Could you remember when and where have you felt it for the first time that you were to become a music artist?
Origins Of Time: The first time I wanted to become a music artist it was in 1998 , I wanted to become a singer , playing guitar , piano , drums too … In 2006 I started to play music as DJ then producing in 2009 … About my partner , he started producing music in 2014 .

Tzinah Records: Why did you choose to create and play this particular type of music? Are there any artists that touched you deeply while developing your own style?
Origins Of Time: We choosed to produce this kind of music , 2 years after Origins Of Time creation , we instinctively went to this kind of vibe and during this transition the artist who inspired us the most was Silat Beksi .

Tzinah Records: Please, briefly, describe for us, the current state of the underground music scene in the place you come from. Is it any good?
Origins Of Time: Yeah , there is 2 or 3 festivals in our country and few underground events … we were organizing some parties before covid , Our brand event is L’Entreloupe . We worked exclusively with Yoyaku for few years. May be we will come back in the future .

Tzinah Records: Without giving out too much about your secret weapons, please tell us how does the magic work in your production routine. Software? Analog? What does your DJ set-up imply?
Origins Of Time: We don’t restrict ourselves ! We use all things that create sounds and that inspire us ,we use softwares , analogs , some audios recording, we take also some audio interviews from tv replay and we tweak it with FXs to create unic vocals for minimal . We are very meticulous and selective when we work!

Tzinah Records: What are the aspects of your daily life that are influencing the shape and sound of the music that you currently make?
Origins Of Time: We need to keep our ears open to catch any special sound we liked then we record it to use it in our production .

Tzinah Records: Which underground house DJ or producer would you love to take out for a summer picnic? With which artist (from any music genre) would you spend 24 hours stuck in an elevator?
Origins Of Time: We would love to take out for a summer picnic Silat Beksi to exchange about music but we don’t want to spend time stuck in an elevator , we are claustrophobic .

Tzinah Records: Have you already played in your most-dreamed about venue? Which one is that?
Origins Of Time: No we never played there … We would love to play at Sunwaves festival , or any similar vibe festival .

Tzinah Records: What motivates you to be an active part of the underground movement?
Origins Of Time: The only motivation is the passion , its stronger than us , we can’t stay any single day without cooking something .

Tzinah Records: What’s your favorite type of breakfast?
Origins Of Time: A good minimal sound with some eggs and bananas .

Tzinah Records: What do you do when the music is not playing?
Origins Of Time: When the music is not playing we sleep !!

Tzinah Records: What’s the story behind your Tzinah Family Podcast? How did you record it and are there released or unreleased tracks?
Origins Of Time: We recorded the podcast with pioneer equipment at home , but we didn’t include any of our tracks , we wanted to share some music from dj friends. For exemple the last track is an unreleased track from our good friend pattern tusk .

Tzinah Records: Are there any of your plans/upcoming projects that you would like to share with us? Where can we see you play next?
