Gri // Interview // Tzinah Podcast // July 2015 //

gri picGri is a Romanian producer based in London. The project started back in 2007 when after a long musical journey and lots of parties attended he started to develop his own. Since then, he experimented different genres of music trying to not be limited to a certain style. In the last few years he’s giving peculiar attention to the production side of the project trying to be more focused on creating than playing. All in the name of improving his sound. In terms of his sound, his tracks are full of emotion and positive energy trying to be out of particular patterns or genres.

Tzinah Records: Could you remember when and where have you felt it for the first time that you were to become a music artist?
Gri: I think 8 years ago when I had my first gig.

Tzinah Records: Why did you choose to create and play this particular type of music? Are there any artists that touched you deeply while developing your own style?
Gri: Because this particular type of music it’s full of emotions, energy and after a long music journey I felt that this music is the most important thing that happened to me.

Tzinah Records: Without giving out too much about your secret weapons, please tell us how does the magic work in your production routine. Software? Analog? What does your DJ set-up imply?
Gri: For the moment I use 2 speakers, some midi controllers and a lot of digital stuffs. I have a work plan to improve my analog side of this project.

Tzinah Records: What are the aspects of your daily life that are influencing the shape and sound of the music that you currently make?
Gri: I’m inspired by lots of things, but the most influencing things for my sound are nature and people. Meeting new people and have a little chat with them can give me the heads up for a new track.

Tzinah Records: Have you already played in your most-dreamed about venue? Which one is that?
Gri: Not yet, but I am pretty confident that one day will happen. Fabric is the one.

Tzinah Records: What do you do when the music is not playing?
Gri: I love to hang out with my friends and to be surrounded by nature.

Tzinah Records: Are there any of your plans/upcoming projects that you would like to share with us? Where can we see you play next?
Gri: I am trying to improve my sound as much as possible. There are some EP’s who are about to be released this year by some nice labels. I’ve just moved in London so for now on I’m just trying to figure out how things are working here, so this is my latest challenge right now.
