Angel Mosteiro on Facebook

Tzinah Records: Could you remember when and where have you felt it for the first time that you were to become a music artist?
Angel Mosteiro: It wasn’t a specific place or a point in time, it was rather a process taking several years where people that I met and parties that I went influenced me, seeding the idea until I finally decided to take the plunge.

Tzinah Records: Why did you choose to create and play this particular type of music? Are there any artists that touched you deeply while developing your own style?
Angel Mosteiro: Because it is the music that I enjoy when I am on a dance floor. Formerly in my beginnings I listened techno at high Bpm’s, but when I discovered artists like Marc Antona, Petre Inspirescu or Barac, they changed my perception of music and went on to become my main influences.

Tzinah Records: Please, briefly, describe for us, the current state of the underground music scene in the place you come from. Is it any good?
Angel Mosteiro: In the city where I am living, Madrid, there was always some underground scene, although from my point of view is actually quite far from the musical tastes of the public in other European countries.

Tzinah Records: Without giving out too much about your secret weapons, please tell us how does the magic work in your production routine. Software? Analog? What does your DJ set-up imply?
Angel Mosteiro: Since my first productions I have used Ableton, now some analog devices connected to Live too and I intend to increase the studio in the near future. My DJ set is quite classic, consists of two CDJ-2000 Nexus with 2 Turntables Technics and using as mixer Allen and Heath Xone 92.

Tzinah Records: What are the aspects of your daily life that are influencing the shape and sound of the music that you currently make?
Angel Mosteiro: Fortunately between my family and my work I have a busy life, so the few times when I can unwind and enjoy nature are a great inspiration when I sit down to produce music.

Tzinah Records: Which underground house DJ or producer would you love to take out for a summer picnic? With which artist (from any music genre) would you spend 24 hours stuck in an elevator?
Angel Mosteiro: I would picnic with Sven Vath and Ricardo Villalobos, it would be very funny, hahaha. But in the elevator I would prefer never to stay locked up because I have something of claustrophobia and wouldn’t enjoy very much that moment haha

Tzinah Records: Have you already played in your most-dreamed about venue? Which one is that?
Angel Mosteiro: Precisely, I have just returned from Mexico and my debut in the US in one of the clubs, Treehouse Miami.

Tzinah Records: What motivates you to be an active part of the underground movement?
Angel Mosteiro: I’m motivated among other things because it is a more exclusive and demanding public. I prefer my music to be appreciated by a select audience and that are really enjoying what I want to convey.

Tzinah Records: What’s your favorite type of breakfast?
Angel Mosteiro: Normally I’m eating quite a varied breakfast but one of my favorite is milk with cereal and orange juice. haha

Tzinah Records: What do you do when the music is not playing?
Angel Mosteiro: Mainly taking care of my family, I have recently become a father so I’m very happy and I lend it my full attention.

Tzinah Records: What’s the story behind your Tzinah Family Podcast? How did you record it and are there released or unreleased tracks?
Angel Mosteiro: It is composed of mixtures of vinyl and digital promos of artists and friends who I would like support with this set.

Tzinah Records: Are there any of your plans/upcoming projects that you would like to share with us? Where can we see you play next?
Angel Mosteiro: I’m now waiting for the release of my next vinyl on Ipsum Ltd (Colombia) containing remixes of Egal 3 and Anamorph, another digital EP in Tupiar Records and of course my EP on Tzinah Records. About my upcoming gigs, I just returned from a tour and want to take a little break to enjoy my son. ?

Tzinah Records: Supposing you come back reading this interview in 10 years from now; could you try saying something to your future-self?
Angel Mosteiro: Always stand guided by your principles and do what you really love. Only good vibes ?
